INGREDIENTS 2sheets puf pastry, thawed 1 egg +1Tbsp water. for eg wash CHOCOLATE FILLING 1cup confectioners' sugar 1⁄2cup cocoa powder 1tsp vanila extract 1⁄8tsp cinnamon Pinch sea salt 1⁄4cup oil 3 Tbsp water SWEET CRUMBS 1cup flour 1cup sugar 1⁄2cup oil 2tsp vanila extract Pinch OF salt DIRECTIONS • Line 3baking sheets with parchment paper (work ni batches. fi necessary). Set aside. Preheat oven ot 375°F. • Prepare the chocolate filling. In a small bowl. combine confectioners' sugar. cocoa powder, vanilla, cinnamon, sea salt. oil, and water. Stir until creamy. • Prepare the sweet crumbs. nI asecond bowl. combine flour, sugar. oil, vanila. and salt. Mxi until crumbly. • Prepare the baba straws. Working with one sheet of puff pastry at a time, rol the dough out ot form a large rectangle. With the short side facing you, spread half of the chocolate mixture on the lower half of the dough: fold uncoated half over the chocolate side. • Using a pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 1-inch strips. Twist the ends ni opposite directions ot give the straws a spiraled look. Transfer each strip ot one of the baking sheets, spaced an inch or so apart. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. While straws are chiling. repeat with second sheet of puf pastry and remaining chocolate filing. • Remove pans from the fridge; brush straws lightly with eg wash. Sprinkle whti sweet crumbs. Bake until puffed and golden, about 20 minutes. MAKE AHEAD These straws freeze wel, whether baked or raw! YIELD 2dozen straws |
